Dr. Sascha Priewe delivered talk “Museums: Diplomats of the 21st Century” at this year’s CAMDO-ODMAC (Canadian Art Museum Directors Organization-Organisation des directeurs des musées d’art canadiens) & UCAGAC-ACGAUC (Universities and College Art Galleries Association of Canada-L’Assocation canadienne des galleries des art universitaires et collegiales) Joint Meeting, held at the Ottawa Art Gallery, to a group of Canadian art museum and university art museum directors. In his talk, Dr. Priewe spoke to how museum professionals can advance the practice of cultural diplomacy and positioned museum global activity as diplomatic activity within the context of the increasing realization that diplomatic work is no longer limited to the “club” of states but now embraces non-state actors, including museums.
