María José Núñez is an International Relations student, about to graduate from Facultad de Estudios Superiores Aragón from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, with a thesis about the United Kingdom’s GREAT Britain Campaign.
During her third year at university, she was awarded a scholarship to become an exchange student abroad in Warsaw, Poland. While she was there, she did an internship at the Mexican Embassy in the Cultural and Education Area. When returning home, she joined the Department For International Trade at the British Embassy in Mexico, in the areas of Education, Healthcare and Life Sciences.
She also did several online activities to support UNAM’s Centre for Mexican Studies in South Africa, managing their social media and writing articles in their blog in both English and Spanish for South African people to get more familiar with Mexican culture and history. She also helped organize different online events to promote Latin American culture in South Africa with their Embassies.
Her current project is @obrasdeartemexicano on Instagram. The objective behind this idea is to promote not only Mexican famous artists like Frida Kahlo or Diego Rivera, but also to become a platform for new Mexican artists to have a place where they can promote their art digitally, making it more accessible to them and to the world.
