Cynthia Roberts

Biography

Cynthia Roberts leads an interdisciplinary practice at the intersection of design thinking, creative project development and cultural innovation. She has over 10 years of experience in the creative industries focusing on the planning, design, and delivery of international cultural programs.
Throughout her career, Cynthia has managed complex multi-stakeholder processes and led the development of public programs for renowned institutions like the Smithsonian, Parks Canada, Toronto Pearson Airport, and the Dominican Republic’s Museum of Modern Art. As a former Senior Associate at Haley Sharpe Design, she built innovative cross-sectoral partnerships and successfully led new business strategies for market expansion while also participating in Canadian Heritage’s first Creative Industries Trade Mission to Latin America.
Cynthia is passionate about creating initiatives that harness the power of culture for social inclusion and economic development. She kickstarts original projects and co-creates with diverse partners to produce independent community-engaged programs like exhibitions and festivals. She is Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for Mayworks, the longest running labour arts festival in Canada.
Based in Toronto and belonging to the Dominican/Latinx diaspora in Canada, Cynthia has a keen interest in building transnational collaborations and fostering intercultural dialogues between creative communities. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and a Master of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto.
