John-Michael Poon

Biography

John-Michael is the Senior Executive Advisor to the Director and CEO of the Royal Ontario Museum. In this role, he is responsible for advancing the Museum’s priorities and implementing the CEO’s strategic initiatives by collaborating with the Executive Leadership Team and liaising with key stakeholders. In addition, John-Michael manages the Museum’s relationship with elected officials and governments at all levels. His work includes building relationships with Consulates and Embassies and identifying partnership opportunities. In a voluntary capacity, John-Michael has advised the Canadian Museum Association, the Ontario Museum Association, the Toronto Arts Council, Future Possibilities for Kids, and the Terry Fox Memorial Toronto Art Project. Prior to joining the Museum, John-Michael was a political advisor for eight years, serving various elected officials including the Minister of Culture, the Minister of Citizenship & Immigration and the Premier of Ontario.
