Biography
Madeleine Goubau is a PhD student in Communication at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Her FRQSC Doctoral Scholarship-funded research focuses on dress and fashion as tools for public diplomacy. Madeleine Goubau is also a lecturer in Fashion and Communication at UQAM’s École supérieure de mode. She owns a master’s degree in Fashion Journalism, with distinction, from the London College of Fashion where she studied the state of fashion journalism in the news media in terms of ethics of practice. Before that, she got her bachelor’s degree in journalism at UQAM for which she earned the Alfred-Ayotte Award as a promising female journalist.
Madeleine Goubau worked as a television reporter for Radio-Canada’s 6 o’clock broadcast news from 2009 to 2016. She then became a fashion analyst for various radio and TV shows, including
RDI Matin,
Les éclaireurs and
Plus on est de fous plus on lit. In 2017, she published the fashion biography
Maison Marie Saint Pierre – en 30 tableaux at Les Éditions Québec Amérique. Currently, Madeleine Goubau is working for the McCord Museum in Montreal on an online encyclopedia on the Quebec fashion industry.
