Thomas Bastien

Biography

Thomas Bastien graduated in engineering from the École Supérieure d’Agriculture d’Angers in France. He also holds a master’s in genetics from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. After having worked in a PR company for 4 years, Mr. Bastien joined the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 2012 during the first expansion of the educational and social and community areas. He worked in communications as Press Officer and as Assistant Director –Partnerships with the MMFA Foundation. In this role, he developed major fundraising projects for programs such as The Art of Continuing to Grow for people aged 65 and over, and The Art of Being Unique for people with autism spectrum disorders. Over the past five years, education and community programmes have been among his main priorities. In his current role as Director of Education and Wellness, with a team of 50 employees and the support of 170 docents, he is in charge of welcoming annually more than 300,000 participants to several types of activities.
